Your reply assumes that you have additional spindle for the files of the new tablespace. Chained blocks are for the object, not for the tablespace, so if you do not have additional spindle I do not see any benefits.

Yes and Yes. In the first case a LONG, LOB or CLOB is tha type of data object
that will most likely span your block size. This means chained blocks almost
all the time which can become a performance problem. In the case of the large
tables, having them away from the smaller tables makes for less head activity in
that tablespace thereby improving throughput.

There are lots of questions regarding tables with long tables. When I read the Oracle Performance Tuning manual, it says "All tables that contain LONG or LOB datatypes, should be placed into a separate tablespace". My question, what's the advantage? Also in my application, among the 100 tables, 5 of them are big tables(close to 2GB). Is it better to put them in a separate table space?
