One point more is that if your optimizer_mode is set to CHOOSE, COST based will be used if one partitioned table is referred in the query, even if the table has not been analysed.

Hi,
Another point, if you rely on ordered indexes and are set to CHOOSE your indexed queries may not be ordered after you analyze. Moral of story... program using KISS method.
