Robert,

You are not too suspicious, trust your instincts. One can most certainly have 2 NICs on an NT box and get the listener working.  We have done this many times. In fact, in an extreme case there was actually 6 NICs on an NT box and the listener still worked fine.

The configuration was a Dec Alpha 8400 running NT 4.0 and Oracle 8.0.4, and yup before anybody says anything, let me say that this "killer" combo is something that you should pass on. I'd rather have Tru64 and Oracle on this any day than NT. NT just acts and behaves so weird on this platform (Dec Alpha). And please don't even ask why we needed 6 NICs. That was a totally out of our hands and it was one of those "vendor/sys. admin recommended" configurations for a highly available networked environment. The funny part was that the room where this machine was did not even have redundant power supply from 2 independent grids. So much for high availability...;-)

Best Regards,

Gaja.
