Ravi,

What version of Oracle and what OS?? I use to have these problems on 8.0.4 & 5 on HP-UX. The problem turned out to be "insufficient shared servers". Still not sure what that meant from OTS, but I had 3 tcp dispatchers with 1 IPC and a max of 10 dispatchers. Shared server minimum was set to 5. What I ended up needing was 12 shared servers. For some reason Oracle was starting all 10 dispatchers. Weird!!

Hi List,
Should i worry about the message 'found dead dispatcher 'D000', 'pid =
(18,6)' found in alert log. There are many instances of this message in
alert log and also sometimes checkpoint not complete. I have recently configured MTS on the database which was 'dedicated' before. There are 40-50 concurrent users/sessions, so i added 8 shared servers and 3 dispatcheres. Is that OK. I am successful in tuning part(as the complaint was). But encountering cleint machines hangups sometimes. Please help. Thanks,
Ravi.
