Shawn,

Check out document 69961.1 on Metalinks. It is certified, as of June 7. However, another lister posted a message here a couple of weeks ago about problems he encountered with his install. I asked him what his problems were since I was in the same boat, SA's wanting to go to the latest and greatest. His response was as follows:

Well, our SA are in the process of downgrading. So we didn't have a chance to run into anymore problems :-)

But whilst we had it, the 1st problem we encounted was during the install. Pro*Cobol was looking for SC4.2.

After the install, we ran into 2 Oracle problems: 1. exec dbms_utility.compile_schema causes ORA-1436, bug# 895238

2. Got ORA-3113 when deleting from parent where statement level triggers exists for both parent and child. Trace file shows ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [kglpnp()+92] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [4252] [] []. This is not a known bug and may have something to do with the O/S.

Have any of you fine DBAs heard if Oracle 8i is cerified to run on Solaris 8 yet? I can't seem to find it on technet and my surly sysadmin has been harrassing me all day to find out.
