If your arch directory fills so quickly that RMAN does not have time to back it up, it may be time to enlarge this filesystem, or compress archived redologs if not already done. If RMAN does not run often enough (eg, you run RMAN once a day, but sometimes extra activity generates more redo and your archive dir fills up), then you can run regularly (via cron) a shell script than monitors the free space in this dir and launches an extra RMAN session (wich will only backup the archives ) if needed. > ---------- > From: Lisa_Koivu@gelco.com[SMTP:Lisa_Koivu@gelco.com] > Reply To: ORACLE-L@fatcity.com > Sent: Wednesday, June 14, 2000 22:33 > To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L > Subject: Re:Setting the archive destination > > Will doing this possibly mess with a currently running RMAN job? > This happens so frequently I could scream: My arc destination fills up > and I > have to manually fiddle with the backups, and move files not included in > the > current backup elsewhere until the current backup completes.
