_disable_logging in 8.1.6

Has anyone had any success with using the _disable_logging parameter in 8.1.6? I was testing it for possible use in a huge import and it didn't seem to have any effect on my test database. I then compared index creation using the nologging parameter vs. not using it and that had a huge difference in # of log switches even though _disable_logging was equal to true for both tests.

So far as I can see it doesn't seem to work.
