Hot backup scheduling question

Greetings,
I have a general question on hot backup scheduling: I have a couple of scripts that can be executed via sqlplus to do hot backups and I would like to automate them to run overnight. Now from what I read from this list, most people seem to favor shell scripts using crontabs. I am thinking about scheduling my hot backup scrips using dbms_jobs. I wonder if there are any caveats in doing
so.

Thanks

David
