Winnie "Steve Orr" on 06/13/2000 02:26:45 PM Please respond to steve@arzoo.com To: "Oracle-L" , "Oracledba" cc: (bcc: Winnie Liu/HQ/ISC) Subject: RMAN without a suppository Sorry for the pun... Anyway, under Oracle 8.0.X, there seemed to be good reasons for using the REpository with RMAN but now under 8i a lot is tracked in the control file. (See the "Consequences of Using the Control file for RMAN Metadata" section of the "Backup and Recovery Guide.") So now, after revisiting the docs I'm wondering if there really is as compelling a reason to use the repository as there was before. Any thoughts?
