Senior means I get to dump the scut work (yeah right, if you know me at all, you know I feel guilty when I do that)... but it DOES mean I get to make decisions, and THINK about what is going on. And it means that the developers here actually ASK me how they should structure a table and if I have a better way of doing things.

And I gotta say.... the other day, I took a sqlldr run down from 3 days (estimated, we had run for 24 hours and gotten 1/3 of the records in) to 1.5 hours... all because I have had the time to read -- this list, the docs, the other books out there.

Rachel

Oh -- if you want to know how I did it -- I upped the commit from 500 rows to 10000 rows and went direct path on the load. Hot diggetty dog it works purty now!
