If Stephane's method does not work, and you have verified that Oracle =
SID
is set correctly, try rebooting the server after shutting the database
down. I've run into a similar situation and that was the only thing =
that
cured it.=20
When you first had the problem, did you check for the existence of the$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/sgadef<SID>.dbf file? It should not be there for a shutdown database.=20

Try a shutdown abort then a startup.
About support, if it is a production database tell them, it's supposed to be their top priority.
