RE: 8.1.6 client install

Are you running the 8.1.6 NT "Client Install" off the Oracle 8 i Enterprise Edition Release 2 CD? I have successfully installed Oracle 8i2 Server with the Client Software from the CD.

Could you try running from a different installation option?
