I use it on a regular basis and have been for about 2 years. It's pretty good. The best thing about it is the trending capability. As you probably know, it runs a benchmark every few minutes and records the results. This helps you to get a picture of "normal" operations.

Some people love the GUI, I could take it or leave it.

That said, I'm seriously considering going back to Oracle Enterprise Manager.

I'd be glad to answer any specific questions that you have about the Savant tool.

Subject: Savant Enterprise - Oracle Edition

Has anyone ever used Savant Enterprise to monitor their database? I have evaluated it but as per normal nothing went wrong with the databases in that timeframe. According to the sales guy the biggest 'benefit' of the tool is its ability to help you quickly get to the root of a problem.

Its a pretty pricy tool as was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with it before I make my recommendation to management.

Thanks for pointing out that there is a paper on the oriole corp web site re: dblinks. I'll go check it out.

One quick question. Is a dblink created on the main repository side when OEM uses say (capacity planner or what not) Is that what happens when you save it as "preferred credentials"?

Just wondeirng how OEM is using the dblink and where.

Thanks again,
