I wasn't able to compile with GCC either (8.0.6, Solaris 2.6). Per Metalink doc 1007644.6, GCC isn't one of the supported compilers. I'm now waiting for our SA to install the Sparcworks 4.x C compiler.

I've heard some people have successfully compiled using GCC. BUT, compilers aren't my strong point so I quickly became frustrated with my several failed attempts just to compile the #%!* demo programs. Plus we didn't want to stumble on support issues if problems occured. Anyone have a better story???
