Thx to Michael/Charles/Charlie for your responses.

The problem is that while i am trying to access my boxes via VPN (secure id)

.. my NT workstation has not been granted xhost access to my boxes.

Also, michael, i do x11 forwarding from my office desktop but tried it on my laptop only yesterday.. and it did not work .. so i was trying the old method of manually exporting the display ... guess it did not work cause of the above reason..

appreciate your help guys ...

Deepak,

Download a trial version of SecureCRT from www.vandyke.com. Select the option
'Forward X11 Packets' under Property/Connection/Advanced/Port Forwarding. The rest is the same as you have done numerous times. You will never have to worry about display environmental variable anymore. It is a better ssh and/or telnet client tool in general. So, give it a shot if you will.
