Hmmm. Maybe our installations are simpler than yours but the only problem we've had with WinInstall was in installing some VB applications. It missed some ODBC driver settings. Once we figured it out the fix was simple... install the ODBC drivers separately. So far, all of our Oracle updates have gone without a hitch.

Yeah, winistall works great...

It overwrites everything. Oracle has the registry set up to store different

oracle homes whenever you install a new version, and wininstall will just overwrite all this. If you create the wininstall package on a machine that has nothing on it, it will just throw stuff into the first oracle home "HOME0", and hose you up good.

Oh, and don't even think about uninstalling with it. It will remove dll's that are needed by other programs simply because the dll was included in the

install package.

Yes, I love wininstall.
