Hi,

Supose you have initial = 1M and next = 1M and your table has initialy 4 extents.
With compress=yes you will have an initial of 5M. Dependig on pctfree, pctused, the data distribution, and how much is filled the last extents you´ll have more or less free space for new rows. Normally you have ADDITIONAL EMPTY space.
