Hi Winnie, here's the deal.

So I'm told, when the export/compress runs, it takes up ~4GB of memory. If the host starts swapping, the resulting compressed file is then very likely corrupted. I did not test this myself. I am going on what I was told. And quite honestly I now don't have time to test it myself because I'm fighting with a <d$%@!> listener. I just told management that there will be no exports of this databse any more and that our only recovery is with rman.

Oh it's been an awful day. Can I move to Florida yet... today it sounds like a good idea.

Thanks
Lisa

Lisa,

Can you tell us more how's the "compression is corrupting the export file"?

I've been using the compress while export all this time without any problem.

Hi Bill, thanks for your response.

Yes we've got the same type of thing going on, dynamic compression. However the compression is corrupting the export file. I need to export it first, complete the export, and then compress it. What a pain in the a$$. I am
going to have to split up my export into about 10-15 pieces, I think. Talk about
messy.
