try doing a "man gethostname" , this should show you the "C" prototypes for
the call.
most "C" books will have this but I recommend an excelent reference book on
this is by "Stevens, Advanced Unix System Programming" by Addison/ Wesley
press.

I am being forced to write external C programs...
Can anyone provide me with a quick bit of code to demonstrate how to call the gethostname routine (this is on AIX), and display the result.
It would be much appreciated.
