I have several packages and jobs that use this and have for over a year. I have not had a problem with it yet.

DBAs,

is there any known - negative - side effect when using the above procedure in Oracle 7.x/8.x stored procedures?

I would like to use this procedure in an interface scenario where the interface procedures are called in short intervals of 5 to 20 seconds.

I already implemented this in the test environments without problems but I just want to make sure there is no potential risk.

Any comment is wellcome.

TIA,
Michael
