RE: 815 much slower than 734

We upgraded from 8.0.5 to 8.1.6 and are also experiencing much slower performance. We've opened a TAR with Oracle on the matter.

were you using Rule based optimiser on your 7.3 instance, with perhaps optimizer_mode =choose on 8.1.5?

If the 7.3 had been upgraded from earlier releases, the optimizer mode could have been set to rule to accomodate tuned execution plans.

In your 8.1.5 , if optimizer mode is now choose but the tables have not been analyzed then full scans would occur.

probably nothing to do with it, but .........:-)
