The problem with developers is they tell you to tweak the db engine in =

to hide the fact that they're


writing lousy code.

In other words if the query is running very slow it must be the Oracle
parameters and not the fact


that they don't know how SQL works.

I agree.  The job of the DBA seems to be everything that everyone else=20
either doesn't want to do or doesn't have the ability to do.  We get =

throne and dictated to developers on how to optimise their code and I =

been in roles where I did everything from install and configure =
hardware to=20


wipe users bums.  Your typical DBA does what's needed to get the job =
done.=20



And I would take a week supporting uses over a day supporting =
developers=20


anytime!=20
