Balu,

I am not very sure what exactly is the problem; but I can tell u one soln.

Find out the service name. To know that, in the server, open control panel and services. In the list u can make out the service name. Open the Tnsnames.Ora, in that particular entry change the 'SID NAME = xyz' to 'SERVICE NAME = <service name>'. Then try connecting from the PC. Btw, this is a stopgap solution.

I had also problem with the SID name and I could not solve it. If any one else can suggest a permanent solution, I will be thankful.

Atish.
