Hi,

I thought of that but because of some various other reasons I have to differentiate at the load process.

Text file contains data like this:

COLUMN 1- RequestorName, 2- CustomerName, 3- Dir.No, 4- Switch, 5- LineType, 6- LineTypeValue.

Now in one text file, I have one requestor & custname name with several records (> 200 or so.) of Columns 3, 4, 5, 6 of which some are parent and some are child values. This number of records can vary

If Line type column has a value "HuntGroup" then I know its a parent record, and the following records are child records until I see another "Hunt Group" line type. what I want to do is assign a parent id for the first parent record I see and assign the child id's for child records and keep incrementing the related Id's as I see the next parent and child. But I do not know how to implement this condition in sql loader. Is this possible at all in sql loader.

any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

regards
Radhika.
