So, I need your opinion regarding "Oracle Transparent Gateway for MS SQL Server".
Do you see any similar problem ?

Well, I havn't tried your current situation but I have tried Oracle 7.3.4
on NT 4 svcpk 5 with Sql Server 7.0. All my work is done in Oracle, so I
just had Sql Server "runnning idle" in the background, no processing done
on it. I was doing ok for about 5 days until my machine decided to "blue
screen". Which is not good. Anyway I do to check the event log on the NT
side and for whatever reason Sql Server had a problem. Error message is as
follows......
Operating system error 1899., The endpoint mapper database could not be created.

Now, since I am new to Sql Server, I have no idea how severe this error message is. But, after the blue screen I am hesitant to have them both running again. PLUS, should you call Oracle they will tell you not to do
it. Should you call MicroSoft they will tell you there "should" be no problem with it.

So, run at risk at this point.

We would like to put Oracle 8 and Sql Server 7 on the same server running
NT
4.0 and later Windows 2000. This will be a teaching/training machine and
will not contain critical production data. Is anyone currently doing this
or tried it? Any gotchas, advice, etc.....? Or do they simply coexist peacefully?

Thanks,

Debbie
