Also, I believe that the listener is a separate issue as well that must be started. Automatic startup commands and script calls are entered by UNIX admins somehow, so please confirm that as well. (startup file in /etc/r1 ?).

Hummmm, surprising : did you check in /var/opt/oracle/oratab that the last field is Y ?
