yeah.. you don't need to change the init.ora file.
If the database is in noarchivelog mode, the archiver will not start functioning.
So, all you need to do is alter database noarchivelog.

I'm in even later, but heck, I don't even change the init.ora
all I do is "alter database noarchivelog"
