Apparently what the SVP is more concerned about is whether since the listener process was owned by Oracle it would be able to do anything unpleasant on the OS level. It seemed unlikely to me (since all the listener does is pass stuff onto the server process or dispatcher process in MTS) but I'm very far from being an expert in such things.
