Hi

I have heard fom one of our suppliers that Oracle may cease support for SPARC. We have our manpower system running on an ICL Fijitsu K472 Twin SPARC Superserver on SVR NX 7Mplus 8.3 Unix..

Although I have searched the Oracle web pages and found references to SUNSPARC - I have not found any definive statement concerning support.

Any news?

Hi
Running Oracle 8.0.5 on NT. There was an export running as system, which hung (should have taken 40 mins and was still going 12 hours later!). I killed the session, but it is still being shown in top sessions (as killed), and there is a temporary segment in the temp tablespace which hasn't been cleaned up. It has been sitting there for the last 48hours.

 Subject: RE: Tablespace reorg tools

If you have an initial and next extent set correctly and do not compress on
export then there is no problem on import. One of the most common import
problem is when an export is carried out with compress=y and then there is
insufficient contiguous space for the initial extent upon import. In this
situation it is necessary to precreate the segment prior to the import.
