You should be able to set and export a new ORACLE_SID value and then create your  database. You will of coarse have to update the /etc/oratab to add your new  sid before you can get to it once you've created it and remember to update your  sql*net files for the new sid. Its really quite simple. On the HP you will  need to watch your kernel settings. 2 instances may require you to up these
