This has alwas been a feature of Forms 4.5. You can place items on a referenced canvas (like fields and
buttons) because it is a property of the item. Boilerplate, on the other hand, has no properties (i.e. property sheet) and therefore can not be place on a referenced canvas.

Workaround...create your text as display items or non-base table items with default values!
