Hi,
I am creating a report using SQLPLUS. There are about 10 columns in the table. I use column format to limit the total length of these 10 columns to less than 150 characters and set linesize to 200, newpage to 0, and pagesize to 66.

The results are wrapped around in multiple lines even if I experiment with wrapp and trimspool on and off.

I wonder what is the ideal linesize and pagesize so I can print each record in one line instead of multiple lines. Any ideas?

you need apply different sizes and check that out.
anyhow, since the there are only 10 columns,
i would use a "column level formatting" for each column.
like

column ename format a10
column sal format 9999

Hello all..

What would be the best way for me to determine the most ideal linesize for a flat file??

Should I use the possible maximum value together with SET TRIMSPOOL ON?

Thank you.

Thank you.

So, there would be no trailing blanks and the end of each line right?

In the spool, correct, this is the purpose of TRIMSPOOL.
