Hi frnds,
I am facing trouble regarding loading data through API in HRMS module(Oracle APPS).
there are almost 1500 records, and i m able to insert only 20 .
after 20 records its not accepting anymore records, and while calling the API , the error its showing is:

ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small

i did a lot R& D wid the ORA-06502, but of no use.I checked the data sizes , and they are in proper order.
" set serveroutput 2356000 "command is also givin some error !

if some one faced the same kind of problem please share the solution fr dat !
thanks.

This is what Oracle says:
Quote:
ORA-06502 PL/SQL: numeric or value error string

Cause: An arithmetic, numeric, string, conversion, or constraint error occurred. For example, this error occurs if an attempt is made to assign the value NULL to a variable declared NOT NULL, or if an attempt is made to assign an integer larger than 99 to a variable declared NUMBER(2).

Action: Change the data, how it is manipulated, or how it is declared so that values do not violate constraints.

As you've already checked it all, what else can I say (different from the fact that you probably missed something).

Because,

set serveroutput 2356000 command is also givin some error
SQL> set serveroutput on size 2356000
SP2-0547: size option 2356000 out of range (2000 through 1000000)

So, how about double checking it all once again?

Talking about checks, what about reading OraFAQ Forum Guide and checking is said about words like "urgent" and IM/SMS speak above all in titles.
There are also guidelines to know how to post and get an quick answer, it worths to read it.

Regards
Michel
