i got a strange number from my data.

select dump(a) from my_table;

Typ=2 Len=1: 192

what is this number?
this number is between 0 and 1, and is not null value.
this number is inserted from c++ engine result.

It is not an Oracle valid number.
It has been inserted in binary form, this is only way to get this in the database.
I bet you get an error if you select the column (without dump).

A precision: there are only 2 valid numbers on one byte:
- byte 128 which is 0
- byte 0 which is negative infinite (displayed -~) and can legally exist only in databases that have migrate from version 5 for all these last 20 years.
