Hello All,

I'm trying to create a database using dbca on my Linux machine , but when I configured all the parameters and finally when I click on FINISH, it opens a small window and throws me an error that

cannot create directory "/oraeng/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/admin/orcl/adump"

I'm trying this many a times but getting the same error .

Not knowing what to do.

Kindly help me out.

Regards,
Raj

Check the permission on the specified directory and for which reason you created adump directory?

Its not a problem of permissions or else the error message must have been :Pemission denied.

Hi,

I'm getting the same error inspite of granting full permissions to the user of oracle.

cannot create directory "/oraeng/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/admin/orcl/adump

When I try to do that DBCA from the root user , Its proceeding but I'm getting an error that

DATABASE CONFIGURATION ASSISTANT

ORA-01031: Insufficient privilges .

IGNORE or ABORT

can someone help me out plz

Hello Raj, I am having similar problem as you however I am running Vista and get the cannot create directory error. I found your query while during a google search for some answers to this problem. I wanted to find out if you have resolved the problem.

Thanks
