Hi,

when i checked the property of an item in a block, i found that the Item Type property in General is set to 'User Area' like 'Text Item','List Item' etc.. Plz anybody explain me wht is the 'User Area' and how it works ?

User area was used by user exits to write to the screen in client-server environment.

In the web environment, it does nothing - Java bean area is used instead of it. User area is still here for migration purposes (for example, from Forms 6i to 9i).

Unfortunatelly, I can not say much more about the issue as all my knowledge is purely theoretical; I don't use 6i (and, consequentially, didn't use "user areas") and don't know Java (so I don't use Java bean areas either).
