Hi all,

when i write a statement like

select sysdate into :m_date from dual;

in forms 6i, i get value of :m_date in the format of
"DD-MON-YY".

My nls_date_format is DD/MM/YYYY and NLS_LANG is American.

Datatype of :m_date is date and size is 11.

can anyone please let me know how to get sysdate in the format of nls_date_format.

Thanks,
Praveen

If :m_date is a DATE item (and it should be a DATE), set its format mask to reflect your desire. If it is a CHARACTER (and no, it shouldn't be a character), then use the TO_CHAR function and
SELECT TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'dd-mon-yy') INTO :m_date FROM dual
