As far as I'm aware, grid has nothing to do with reports and/or discoverer. You might have a better chance of getting an answer if you post this question in server administration.

This is the Introduction to the Oracle Database chapter of the Oracle 10g Concepts book. For beginning, read Overview of Oracle Grid Architecture and feel free to explore this concept in details, if you wish.
