There is two types of backup
1. Coldbackup
2. Hotbackup

1. Coldbackup = "closed" + "consistent" + "cold".
When database is down then we can take database backup.

2. Hotbackup = "Open" + "Inconsistent" + "hot"
We can take database backup when database open for normal operation.

And there is two method to take hot & cold backup.
1. RMAN (Oracle Recommended)
2. User Managed Backup
