After database creation, i set following values in $HOME/.bash_profile file

ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle; export ORACLE_BASE
ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/OraHome_1; export ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_SID=orcl; export ORACLE_SID
ORACLE_TERM=xterm; export ORACLE_TERM

i re-loggedin and issued

[oracle@kitcomp ~]$ . oraenv
ORACLE_SID = [orcl] ?
ORACLE_HOME = [/home/oracle] ?

its picking SID correctly, why its not picking ORACLE_HOME automaticaly ?I did echo $ORACLE_HOME ,its gives correst result but.
Can someone please assist ?

Because you didn't correctly fill /etc/oratab.
Just read the content of oraenv and you will know what it does and what it is searcing for.

Michel
