Hi all,

I want to enable serial numbers for items and have done the following set-ups.
1.Setup -> Organizations -> Parameters -> Select the Revision,
Lot, Serial alternative region
2.Setup -> Items -> Attributes Controls =>control level for the attribute "Starting Serial Generation"
3.Setup -> Items -> Attributes Controls => Master/Org level
4.Item serial control at Master item level, whr I have declared that the allocation of Serial nos. is to be done at Sales Order Issue.

Yet, when I go to the Shipping Executions for, I find that the Serial no. field remains grayed out, and ship confirm completes with a warning.

Can anyone help, pls??

Thanks!!

One more thing: Does an item necessarily need to be under lot control for enabling serial numbers?

No need to have lot control if you dont want to use it in case of it being a serial controlled item.

Please refere Note:112055.1 which has detailed step by step setup for serial as well as lot controlled item

Thanks for responding. I've already carried out the set up steps which have been mentioned in that note(the first mail in the thread gives the details). Yet, when I go to the Shipping Executions for, I find that the Serial no. field remains grayed out, and ship confirm completes with a warning.
Why is this happening??

Thanks!!

As this is Serial Number at sales order issue you should have serial number already generated for that perticular item what you are transacting in your sales order.

What are these values in your case?

Quote:

Setup -> Organizations -> Parameters -> Select the Revision,
Lot, Serial alternative region

you have uniqueness & generation defined in serial control region?

In shiping transaction form before confirming ship go to Tools>Serial Number
There you need to enter serial numbers if already generated or you can generate serials there too.

tq

Please make sure that You have granted Shipping Access to yourself. Also, check to make sure the item is serial controlled at the org level. You don't need to do anything with lot control for serial controlled items.
