I created backup database of production database (oracle 9i) using rman using steps specified in Attached file .
I also copied redo logs from production to backup server.

i want to open backup database without reseting redo logs using

alter database open noresetlogs;

but it is giving error

ERROR at line 1:
ORA01588: must use RESET LOGS option for database open

IS IT NECESSARY TO OPEN DATABASE WITH RESET LOGS ONLY AS I RECOVERED DATABASE COMPLETELY.

I WANT TO OPEN IT IN NORESETLOG SO THAT SEQUENCE NO DOES NOT CHANGES AND I CAN APPLY ARCHIVE LOG OF PRODUCTION AFTERWARDS ON.

If you want to create a standby database then use the appropriate method.
