hi...


i m getting snapshot too odd error....

SQL> sho parameter undo;

NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
undo_management string AUTO
undo_retention integer 10800
undo_tablespace string UNDOTBS1

i have seen alert log file it is showing....

ORA-01555 caused by SQL statement below (SQL ID: 2rfuda92ra49h, Query Duration=268 sec, SCN: 0x0000.00fcf3bc):

This error is saying that the abov query is taking only 268 sec to run but my u can see the that undo_retention period is 3 hour...

i have also did this....
SQL> select max(MAXQUERYLEN) from v$undostat;

MAX(MAXQUERYLEN)
----------------
3076
my udno tablespace is still 50 % free.. so there is no space issue...

can anybody tell what is the problem and how can i resolve it

Oracle version?

Undo retention is not guaranted prior to 10g and is still not by default in 10g.
