I want to configure iod for my oracle9i database, I am not using application server, is it possible to configure this. I have configured the database server for this, but how to configure the client.

> I have configured the database server for this,

If the statement above above is true, then you have successfully tested the implementation; which by definition means successfully connected via some client.

>but how to configure the client.
Do it the same way as you did previously.

Might the solution be Operating System dependent?
Since you decided to NOT provide any details on this, I'll not guess at a possible solution.

What is your Oracle version to 4 decimal places?

the oracle version is 9.2.0.1 and the os is windows 2003
I, just followed the steps for configuring iod like
OID Configuration Assistant (OIDCA)
Start/Stop the OID Monitor Using OIDMON
Start/Stop a Server Instance Using OIDCTL
Reset the Default Database Password
Oracle Net Manager
Oracle Directory Manager
Oracle Net Configuration Assistant
But i was not able to connect the client, when i use the tnsnames.ora for connection of client, it is possible to connect.

It takes more than just installing OID to have OID used for authentication by Oracle DB.
