SELECT segment_name TABLE_NAME,
  SUM(bytes) /(1024 *1024) table_size_meg
FROM user_extents
WHERE segment_type = 'TABLE'
GROUP BY segment_name

This is very bad.
Global size is in %_segments view.
%_extents are for extent data. Why summing something when you already have the sum somewhere?
Above all when these view are slow.

When someone says table size query on dba_segments.In dba_extents view you usually will get lower disk usage which actually don't exhibit real one.
