I would like to add values from a field(f_total, in a repeating frame) and place the result in another field (f_grand_total)located in another frequency, is this possible? Is there a way I can do a sum(f_total) and place in f_grand_total?

Yes this is possible.
Place a summery column on this record group before designing the Layout of your report and at designing time you can the total sum of the field.

Thanks for the reponse but my problem is a little more in debt.
The problem is my field (f_total) the calculation is done in the fields format trigger, not in the data model, is there a way I can place a summary column on the field itself, not the record.

Then calculate the summary first and then do the same calculation with the summary result & show that result in the report.

Im sorry i am not follwing my field(f_total) actually returns a null value until the format trigger is rendered and the value from the calculation is placed on the report by using srw.set_field_char(0, grand_total), so will using the summary column still work here?
