I have about thousand files of different types that I need to migrate from my local server to a table that exists in my oracle database. I don't want to confuse this with regular data these are blob files. Does anyone have any idea how I can go about doing this? Any help will be so appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I have over 3000 blobs that I need to load in a table in a 9i database. I would have chosen to use bfiles but the data needs to be in the database. Is there anyway of doing a mass loading of blobs at a time? Any information rendered will be appreciated. Thanks

Is anyone available to answer my question PLEASE Embarassed . I will clarify. I need to load blobs into a column in a table that already contains the file names, types, sizes etc. Copying these blobs unto the database server is not an option. There are roughly 3000 blobs that reside on my personal PC and I can't seem to come up with a plan for this. Can someone please help! Any and all help will be so appreciated.

Please read & FOLLOW the posting guidelines as stated in the #1 STICKY post found at top of this forum.

Words matter because they have specific meanings.
A "BLOB" is an Oracle internal datatype.
I don't understand how they can reside on "my personal PC".
Do you have an Oracle database on your PC; if so what version to FOUR decimal places.

On a scale of 1 (poor) to 10 (awesome) how good a PL/SQL programmer are you?

Scale of 1 to 10 I consider myself a 2 Embarassed I am currently working on improving my skills in that regard.

Clarification: These files currently reside on a network drive and need to be loaded into a blob column. Does the clarification help any? Thanks so much for the patience.

>Does the clarification help any?
Not really.

I still don't clearly understand the data (type?) to be loaded.
>I have over 3000 blobs
You've repeatedly said "blob" but I suspect they are something else.

Does the lack of an answer to "Do you have an Oracle database on your PC; if so what version to FOUR decimal places." mean you do not have Oracle s/w installed on your PC?

Why are you asking for assistance here as opposed to your boss, DBA or anyone else who is more capable with Oracle at your place?

Anacedent -I guess I am really coming across really retarded but I do appreciate your patience and responses.
My oracle database version is 9.2.0.8
When I mentioned 3000 blobs I meant 3000 files (not blobs) that reside on my PC. I do not have an Oracle database that resides on my PC. So to phrase my question better I would like to know how to load pdf files/word documents in an oracle column using blob.
Also, do not have a boss. I am currently on contract which is why I cannot hand it over to "a boss". Embarassed

Internet search capabilities can be useful but only when you actually use them
