Hi Forum

I have to restore & recover a database from hot backup in oracle on solaris 5.9. Can anyone please tell the steps to do that.

if you have controlfiles.
rman target/
startup mount;
restore datebase;
recover database;

if dont have controlfiles then
startup nomount;
restore controlfile from autobackup or backuppiece 'path';
alter database mount;
and same step as above

At first need to know how you took backup?

Rman or user -managed? Based on that take necessary steps.
