On a Oracle 10g,which all below given parameters needed on a standby database which is only pulling and applying archive logs from primary using script, the standby is not visible to primary as its on a private IP so no auto archive log pulling with orapwd.
This standby is used as a reporting database.

log_archive_dest_1=
log_archive_dest_2=
log_archive_dest_state_1=
log_archive_dest_state_2=
remote_login_passwordfile=
standby_archive_dest=
standby_file_management=

The standby server must be visible to the primary server otherwise how can it send data (here archived logs)?
Or you use a manual standby and manually copy the archived logs as you want. In this case primary doesn't know there is a standby and parameters are the same as a standard database.
