Is there a concept of inline cursors? Embarassed

Yes there is. Oracle calls it "nested cursor" but a general term is "inline cursor". It is a cursor in the select statement. It returns a ref cursor.

SELECT loc.city
       -- inline cursor below:
     , CURSOR( SELECT country_name 
               FROM   countries 
               WHERE country_id = loc.country_id
              ) ctry
FROM   locations loc
/

I never really used it.
